Potpourri of my day

Spellchecker correctly taught me to spell potpourri.

Kiddos woke me up at 5:45am...this is not like them.

dragging my unshowered self around the house in attempt at housework

trying to motivate to the shower.

making shishkabobs for dinner.

fyi: spellchecker indicates that shishkabobs is spelled wrong but has no suggestions!

thinking about how Drays Bug has learned to fold his hands and put his head down during prayers--darling

saying a quick prayer of resilience for my husband's New Year attempt to get back in shape

convincing myself that we do not need a new/bigger house (but still scouring the Internet)

getting excited to have dinner with two of our favorite couples tomorrow night

dreaming of the Oreo cupcakes I am going to make for dessert (and hoping they come out as good as dreamed)

possibly purchasing an adorable hat for Kearyn that has little monkey ears on it--to.die.for

uploading new tunes to my ipod

listening to my new favorite: This Kind of Love by Sister Hazel. over and over.

continuously breaking up the squabbles between Caleb & Drayson

can't believe it's only 91 days until we meet our new little lady

waiting as anxiously as the boys for our hard working Chipper Daddy to get home

Arriving shortly...

Lookee at some of the precious purchases I made yesterday for Baby Cakes Kearyn:

Flapper beanie (i changed the color combo a bit. hers will have red, pink & brown stripes with a red flower).

This sweet flower bow that attaches to different hats and headbands.

Ruffle bloomers (are you kidding me)!!!
on Etsy at threeyellowfish.

I've realized that I love buying handmade. Not to mention stalking all things Etsy in the middle of the night when I should be asleep (I think I dreamed about baby bows last night). And it has also inspired me to try my hand at being a little more crafty myself (if any of you extra crafty gals have any tips I would appreciate). And it's not something every other baby gal will have which makes it extra special I think.

And my gawwsh can you get over those bloomers?!

Just Mama & Drays

Today is a working day for Chip at school, so he took Caleb along. Caleb insisted he needed a sack lunch to go to school. So I made him one. He asked if he could have 2 oreos in his lunch as well. All of a sudden I was having flash forwards to Caleb going off to real school in the fall and I was getting a little misty.

So the Drays and I decided we needed to go on our own little adventure. We went to Craft Warehouse and Pier One and Kohl's. A random search for bathroom accesories for the revamped hall bath + anything adorable for Kearyn's nursery. He stayed in his stroller most of the time. When he escaped at Kohl's he ended up with a bloody lip, so he decided sitting in the stroller with a dumdum actually wasn't such a bad gig after all.

We had a wonderful time. My baby was so good. I also realized he is not as much baby as he is toddler (getting misty again, dang hormones). It reminded me of days when Caleb and I used to go on random treks. I need to do more of these trips with the boys seperately (but especially Drayson). I am going to try and do as many as I can before Kearyn arrives. I don't ever want Drayson to feel like the forgotten middle child.

Right at this moment he is in the middle of baby dreams that I hope will last at least another hour (God willing :) He is so cute and I am so glad we were able to spend time together today.

He also gave his smile of approval for the cute sweater I bought. What a guy!

Is it possible?

...for these guys to be any more scrumptious?

I think not!

This is what 24 weeks looks like:

This is what 24 weeks feels like:

not nearly enough days left to get everything done
(including cuddling a still very young Drayson, moving said Drayson into Caleb's room to make room in the nursery, getting all things girlie together and purchased, mentally preparing to be the mother of 3 children, figuring out new finances and budgets/work schedules/coaching schedules/hockey practice schedules, preparing to graduate my first born from preschool and send him off to Kindergarten next fall, painting the hall bathroom...and the list goes on)

Oh, how the questions, doubts, and excitement swirl. Usually at 3am. When I've gotten up to go pee for the 2nd time that night. Can't a girl just catch a break and get some decent sleep?

The Baby Formerly Known as Bits

Yesterday I was cuddling Drayson after his nap.

Drayson did not appreciate being kicked and prodded by my ever-growing belly.

Kearyn apparently did not appreciate being smashed and squished by the ever-growing Drayson.

OH, did I just write that out loud?

Kearyn Faye

Creatively unique, without being, well, you know, just plain weird (in our opinion anyways).

Some people are in the practice of not leaking their chosen name out into public too early.
But we figure if you decide to name your kid Kearyn in the next couple months--then you probably stole it from us (and you will have affirmed that we are indeed that cool). And when people ask you how you came up with the name, you'll have to say something really lame like "we stole it from these incredibly cool and creative people" etc, etc.

Anywho.

We are keeping it.

And her.

And if you like it, we'll keep you too.

Our Little Outdoorsman

Disclaimer: if you do not approve of hunting and/or the killing of small animals you may not want to continue reading.

Consider yourself warned.

This summer before we headed off on our annual summer cabin trip, Chip took Caleb off on a "man errand." The sole reason for this errand was to purchase Caleb his very first BB gun. Now, while we are not members of the NRA, Chip is a recreational hunter when he has the time (just in case you were wondering we also eat red meat, support our troops, sing along with the Star Spangled Banner and vote conservative {gasp}).

So they came home with big grins and a Daisy Red Rider.
And so "hunting" was all that was talked about on the 4+ hour trip up to the mountains.

As soon as we were out of the car Caleb announced that they were going "hunting for squirrels."
I looked at Chip, he reassured me there was nothing to worry about. Saying things like "its a boy thing" and "he won't be able to hit a squirrel anyways."

Except for we obviously forgot that our 5 year old has exceptional hand-eye coordination.

And so went down the first poor fuzzy rodent (which apparently had to be "put out of its misery" by Chip).

Don't worry, his aim got better after that...and the last 3 kills were clean.

{caleb and uncle trav showing off good form}

I am only semi sorry if this story disturbed you. And while I don't really love hunting myself. I am plenty proud of how proud Caleb was of himself. I'm proud that I have a husband who takes the time to take our kids on "special errands." And looks forward to teaching our son proper gun control (among many other life skills).

And I guess if you still don't like it. Well you can come over and we can discuss it further.
But remember, we have guns :)

A look back at December..

Wondering what we've been up to the past couple weeks?
Wonder no more.

I hit 23 weeks the other day. Can't believe we will meet this sweet new gal in just a few short months. I don't think I'm ready, but I suppose she is coming one way or the other.

This guy turned 18 months. He is starting to say several words (indistinguishable to all others besides those very close to him). He gives great kisses. He woofs like a dog. He loves to turn light switches on and off. We think he is just so funny and he makes us laugh everyday.

Caleb is so grown up all of a sudden. He can't wait to meet the new baby. He made us so proud when he sang during Christmas Eve service at church. And he has a loose tooth! Look what a cool kid he is...

{and Uncle John taught him how to use a child proof bbq lighter during Luminaria}
We made the most of our Daddy time while Chip was off during Christmas break. So sad to see him go back to school this morning.
We saw "real live" reindeer. We played with our new camera.
Loved on these crazy guys.
And spent some quality family time together of course.
Can't wait to see what 2010 will bring...
